I was browsing previous discussions and came across one about sex offenders. Please allow me to give you some stats, less than one percent of crime committed are sexual in nature. oOf that one percent less than one third are against children. Of those against children are less than one percent are against children under six most sex crimes against children are an older man dating an underage girl and having sexual relations with parental knowledge and consent. My point is your children are safe if you check out sex offenders you will find most are consentual, most are with someone they know, and it is just an age gap that gets them caught up. True there are real rapists out there, yes there are child molesters out there but most sex offenders are not the monsters you portray them to be. Also, it is a tragedy to be a victim of one of them monsters but do you vilify the whole village because of one monster if so the world is not a place for you and you should seek counseling or other remedies for your paranoia. I would much rather worry about terrorists in my back yard or the government trampling on our rights than to worry about someone working and trying to earn a living with the stigma of a monster

The adult knows better; the child does not. Just because a child consents does mean its not a crime. 

I dont know where you are getting your information but you are completely incorrect. Do you know how many children are sexually abused? Do you know how many children are sexually abused and do not report it? The statistics are staggering with just those who have reported it. So if you want to talk about stupid people you must be talking about yourself. I would like to see your references to what you are claiming. Because I sure as hell can show you mine and I dont think you want to see them because they will blow your shit out of the water. 

@kbyrd, you certaninly sound like one of those sex offenders about which you are talking. There was another poster on here like you a couple of years ago when the registered sex offender was casing out local elementery schools and had parents flooding the public safety office with calls. That poster then was saying how over the top and paranoid the parents were being. It's when the parents stop being a bit paranoid and diligent that more things are apt to happen to their children. And it's my firm belief that a person that tells parents to NOT be that way and to get help for being that way, is the one that needs to be watched and the one that needs to get help.

And as far as a 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, (or even 17 year old or older in a relationship with a person of authority), giving consent to someone 5 or more years their senior, there is no such thing, except to the pedophile of course. Someone with a pedophile mentality thinks much like you and uses many of the same arguments as you in order to get parents to let their guards down so that makes their ability to get at the children so much easier.

IF you have children (which I doubt) and that's how YOU choose to watch over them or NOT watch over them, then that's your decision and if something happens then you only have yourself to blame. But for other parents who choose to watch out for their children to the best and most diligent of their abilities, then that's not for you to judge.

And I for one will always call a 30, 35, 40 or older year old man (or woman) who goes after a child for sexual purposes a pervert and a pedophile and would hope they get hit with the most punishment that the law will allow. If they make the decision to play with children, then they should expect their entire lives to be turned upside down just as they have done to the children's lives. 

I have learned first hand what predators can do to a family. Someone I trusted did horrible things to his daughter and his entire family. I will continue to watch and protect my children from them no matter what statistics people come up with. It is my job as their mother.

he was placed on probation for 2 years and if he messes up again in any way shape or form (if he gets in trouble with the law with ANYTHING)he will have to register as a sex offender the rest of his life.

what would make a child THINK that is his only escape from his adoptive family? 14 y/o knows right and wrong but would he understand the seriousness of this nature?

First, the person who started this is soo off base. Sex offenders are everywhere and as parents it is our job to defend and protect our children til they are of LEGAL AGE! That is 18!!! I knew a girl that was 17 and got pregnant by a 42 year old man. She was 3 months from being 18 and they took off because her mom was going to press charges However, the police here were giving her a hard time. The police need to shut up, quit acting like attorneys, follow the law & start prosecuting these perverts. he is not registered as a sex offender, yet he should be. 

It's not the police departments job to prosecute. That's what the DA is for.

I never said there weren't many victims of these crimes that go unreported and i never said its not a crime what i said it was consentual that does not make them a predator and does not put your child in danger. I know many people both young and old that have been victims i know one who was married and accused her husband of rape, i know highschool sweethearts that he turned eighteen and was charged as a sex offender, i know a victim who had been molested sice she was four years old her brothers her father and her uncle. i know a victim that was abused by an uncle i know a victim that was abused by her grandfather i know a victim that was beaten and raped by a complete stranger that man said he did it because the woman reminded him of his mother. I knew a man who was a victim and ended up molesting his own children i knew a man who had been molested and raped his ten yr old cousin, a female, a woman i know was raped in the mental institution. my point is by far that most victims are harmed by someone they know. You are more likely to be raped or your child molested by a family member or friend than by a total stranger. You don't want to put a sex offender to death, you don't want to build more prisons to house them you don't want them back in society so just what do you suggest we do with all of them and i would love to see your information i am sure it comes from a reliable source and can help me to better fight for victims and justice. 

Tricia, if you know this monster is casing your schools why didn't you give a description why haven't the schools notified parents, is the police both morked and unmarked patrolling the schools. is anyone else aware of this how can you protect the children of the community without sharing such important information.The people want to target a man working yet don't do anything about this monster stalking your children. What is going on there. 

When it comes to protecting our children and our community it is all of the citizens jobs not just a parent or police officer. If you know or suspect any activity that is not right report it to as many departments as possible the more thorough the investigation the more likely crimes will be prevented and any crimes that do occur will be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible. Keep each other informed and pay attention to anything around you, look for habitual people they will park in the same spot they will hang out in the same location. We often refer to them as loafers because they have no apparent job or business at that location 

Who is this working man that you feel is being targeted by people...the airman that had a sexual relationship with a teenager? People under 18 can not consent to a sexual relationship according to the law.

Hey christine did you know that the registered sex offenders are prosecuted that is why they are registered. Funny that you mention prosecuting them. perhaps you would like to tell me what do we do with them once they are released from prison after serving a lenghth sentence. 

Barbara i dont disagree with you he broke the law he will be prosecuted and if found guilty he will pay dearly for his crime but does that make him a predator does that make him a person that will purposely case schools and rape children, what about this fourteen yr old she consented does that make her a victim does that make her parents monsters. I often wonder what is going through her head for her to consent to such an act. Why would she want to sex with a grown man, why does she want to have sex in the first place, what could be going on in her home life. What does this case tell you? Two things are obvious this man is sick and perverted to want to and to have sex with a child, and two what was going on in her life to allow this to occur. Where were her parents, did he go to her house to his house to a motel. Don't you people understand her parents have a responsibility also. I don't justify his actions at all but i would not label him a rapist. I would want answers from the parents though. They are really tough questions and the parents are probably shamed and embarassed but the more information we have the better we can prosecute cases and prevent crimes from occurring. Get it through your head this man did wrong and will be prosecuted but he is not the only one, mistakes were made somewhere in her home and we need to know what they were to prevent more from occurring. We can learn from others mistakes and not make the same ones. If these criminals communicate so effectively why can't us law abiding citizens do the same. 

Barabara, i don't know who the man is. a friend from the area recommended this site and i browsed previous discussions and one stated there was a sex offender working at a local restaurant and a second lady said something about watching her children closely so i felt the need to clarify some points. Does a murderer working at mcdonalds mean the entire customer base is in danger of being murdered, does a burgler working at the gym mean all the patrons at the gym are in danger of being robbed. Does a drugdealer working on your roof mean he/she will deal drugs to your kids in your own home. Be realistic most crimes are crimes of opportunity don't give the criminals an opportunity to make you a victim but dont exaggerate the true danger you or your family are in just because they are required to work and are trying to do right. 

Hello kbryd-read my whole comment-he didn't get arrested or prosecuted because the POLICE didn't want to do anything! You do the math 42 year old with 17 year old and he impregnates her. Now think a little-if said 17 year old broke the law the parents would be held responsible, yet when she got pregnant & her mom wanted to press charges they said she was of age-people interpret the law how they'd like. Makes no sense to me. Double standard!

bamafan we have a beautiful six year old daughter that goes no wehere without one of us, she is home schooled and is still not allowed to attend sleepovers or sit on anyones lap. We are the ones who are with her at all times even when we are around family members. She is not allowed to participate in beauty pagents or watch them on tv. we have the tv off ninety percent of the time ahe is only allowed wii games that are rated for six and under she is not allowed on the internet and has been taught not to give anyone her name address or telephone number except a police office or fireman. We can't protect her 100 percent but we are damned sure trying to do the best we can. 

I can see we have some misinformation here was she fourteen or seventeen because in NM seventeen is the age of consent and also yes it is perverted regardless and if the law can't do anything the least you and all the other parents can do is tell all parents about this pervert and make his life so miserable that there will be no promotions and force him into retirement then hound him where ever he trys to disappear to. This is not a miscarrage of justice, the law is what it is but you can still warn other parents and protect other potential girls from this pervert. However i must warn you that with the right connections he can make your life and your husbands very miserable and can even affect your career or your husbands. Christine did you know we all have double standards get a book and look up some of them. Look how much justice money can buy or how much crime money allows one to get away with. i sincere feel sorry for the girls parents and i would still delve deeper into the issues at home. I find it difficult to believe they knew nothing til she ended up pregnant. Remember my words about it takes a village to raise a child and it is all of the citizens responsibility to protect the children not just their parents or the police officers. You can do something about it if you are willing to risk your security and happiness. 

The man i speak of is reported everytime We (me and my husband) see him. My husband works for the city and has spooted this man sitting in his car around the time that the kids would be let out (junior high) but this was some time ago and we havent seen him around the cemetary since. Also I have seen him driving down oregon multiple times in the AM and when school lets out and have turned him in but hes never been caught

now if you got to do work to a vehicle as far as the motor goes then i can understand raising the price but it still dont run
