So we are thinking of going to japan for a few months (my husband will be tdy there(, its just the 2 of us, we have 2 dogs and a cat. but we own a house. Do you all think anyone would be interested in renting our house for a few months life people who are on extended tdy or families waiting for real housing. It would be cheaper than staying at lodging for them and more roomier. and do you know if anyone does long time pet watching? 

I think renting out your house as temporary loding would be a great idea! I'm sure you wouldn't have any trouble finding someone to take it, especially with the amount of people waiting for housing. As for your pets, I'm not sure if any kennel here will take them for that long and if they do it would probably be pretty expensive. I would reccomend asking your vet and seeing if he/she can give you any reccomendations. 

You could also ask as part of the rental agreement that the renters be open to keeping your pets and you could give them a break on the rent for doing so. Animal lovers would probably jump at the offer. And that way your pets could stay in their own home and it wouldn't cost you nearly the amount that boarding would. Like Renae said, there are lots of folks waiting on housing but they don't necessarily need a full years rental. 

With a shortage of rentals right now I'm sure you would be able to find someone to rent and watch your pets :) Good luck with your move :)

I am sure you would find people to rent it, however, you would have to really careful on who you rent to. I would think of asking people in his squadron like airmen in dorms wanting to get out for a while or something like that. If your stuff will be in the house, you are always taking the chance that it may get damaged or stolen. The last time we went out of town we asked an airmen my husband knew at the dorms to watch the house and our pets. He was thrilled to get out of the dorms for a while and we had someone we knew and trusted to watch our house and dogs. 

what kind of dogs do you have? we sometimes dog sit for families if they need to. we watched a bassett hound for 10 months, while he was deployed. 

My husband &I are moving to Holloman in April... how much would rent be? If you could message us all the info about the house and pictures, that would be lovely.
