Hi everyone. If you are looking for a great preschool here in Alamogordo you really need to visit Kinder House. I just registered my son for the Fall and the place is amazing. A friend told me about it and she was absolutely right. Both teachers have degrees in Education. One of the teachers has a Masters degree in Education. Also they are both NM licensed teachers with a lot of experience. The place is spotless and organized and the program is structured and academic. All of the children I observed when I visited seemed very happy and were very engaged in many interesting activities. Kinder House is definitely not a day care center. It is about preparing children for Kindergarten but the teachers are wonderful at balancing the structure, academics and playtime. It isn't free, it is $330.00 a month this fall for Mon-Thur from 8:30 - 2:30, but it is much more structured and academic than the free prek's I visited. I was truly impressed with what I saw. My opinion, but wanted to share the news. They have a web-site. It is www.kinderhouse.educatorpages.com
I know a couple who tried to register their child there. Their child was rejected based on the teachers' judgement that their child was too big of a handful.
I would think twice before registering my daughter there. My girl must be way too active for them too.
I work at St. John's Day School & the teachers there are wonderful! Ages 2-6. We have many German families. Some of the teachers are bilingual. The children have music, p.e. and academica & art. They are structured, prepares your child for kindergarten and yet lets them have fun in the process. We have FT & PT openings available.
We keep a classroom size of no more than 14. We have one 2 year old class, 2 three year old classes and 2 4/5 year old classes. We have several teachers that specialize in music, p.e., etc. Registration Fee $60 Full Day - $95/week/$105 a week if not potty trained Preschool Only $70 week/$80 if not potty trained; 2 year old class $95/week/$105.00 if not potty trained. We are accepting summer & fall registrations now.
To En (I noticed you did not leave your real name)... I am the owner and the lead teacher at Kinder House. We have never rejected a child from our center because they were "too big of a handful", as you put it. We have a trial period for every child that is registered to make sure our program is the right fit for the child. Not every child is ready for a structured program at age 3 or 4. We are dedicated to providing a quality learning environment for all of our students. I am not sure where you got your information from, but before you start bad mouthing others I suggest you get your facts straight. Our program is a top notch, structured, and academic preschool. Both my daughter (who is co-owner) and myself are NM licensed teachers and have education degrees. My daughter has a bachelor's degree in Ed. and I have a Master's degree in Ed. Our program is designed to prepare children for kindergarten. When a child leaves our program, he or she will be able to read or will be well on their way to reading by themselves. Before anyone listens to people on this site such as En, who are only out to start rumors, I recommend you visit our center yourself to find out what we are all about. I am sure any of our parents would be happy to give a glowing recommendation. As for our class sizes; we have a 6:1 student teacher ratio. Any more children than this in a preschool class is unproductive in an academic learning environment. Check out our web-site at www.kinderhouse.educatorpages.com or stop by our center at 1102 9th Street. We will be more than happy to show you what Kinder House has to offer. Our program offers Literacy development(reading, writing, and comprehension), Math(number recognition, sorting, couting, etc.), music, art, creative movement(preschool P.E.), Science and Multi-cultural Awareness. Additionally, children learn American Sign Language, Spanish and German. See our web-site for detailed information on our curriculum.
To Kinder House,
How do you know if this is my real name or not? I've been registered to this site for half a year unlike people who register just to advertise. The person who started this topic is most likely here to advertise since it coincides with the advertisement on HYS.
I am not spreading rumors & I know the couple did not lie to me. They laughingly said that their child was too much trouble for Kinder House & couldn't even last half a day there.
You do choose the children who go to your preschool. They need to be ready for your "structured" & academic programs. How was I bad mouthing your establishment? It's true that they need to be READY, right?
Frankly, En, I don't care what your name is. You 'were' bad mouthing my establishment by starting needless rumors. What was the point of your comment if it was not to bad mouth Kinder House?? Yes, they do need to be ready for our program. We are not playcare or daycare. We are one of the only 'true' preschools, other than those in the public schools in this town, who have truly qualified, licensed teachers. If we accept children who are continually disruptive we are unable to provide a quality program to the other children enrolled in our school. There has only been one child that we have told the parents that we did not feel he was ready to attend. This child did not speak nor socialize with other children at all. He was distructive and tore up books and toys as well as required constant one on one supervision to keep him from eating rocks on the playground. Obviously, this child was not ready for a structured program such as ours and it would have been unfair to our other students and their parents if we had accepted him. For the record, this child's parents told us from the beginning that they did not think he was ready for our program but wanted to give it a try. It was a 'mutual' agreement with this child's parents that he not attend our school. The children at our school are not enrolled to learn the ABC song or to color pictures. The children at our school are enrolled because their parents want a quality early education for their child so that they have a good start in public school. Our parents want their children to learn structure and academics. We have had no complaints from our parents and are currently at full capacity through May when we break for the summer.
You may deem my post to be an attempt to start needless rumors but please note that this is a forum where people speak up about what they know, think & want to know. I was just replying to the first post.
Frankly, I just stated a fact. The child you mentioned must be the same child I'm talking about. Still, you are only confirming that what I said is a fact.
I'm not replying anymore since it's not my thing & really, it doesn't matter to me as much as it matters to you.
I'm going to drop this & you should too.
PS: If you do not care what my name is, why bring it up? How rude.
I did not consider her comments to be bad mouthing. As for your establishment being the only "true" preschool, that is not correct. For young children there needs to be a balance between learning & fun. St. Johns has been established for well over 20 years, has licensed teachers & runs at full capacity. We are a "day school" and that is what we do. Our kids love us and how we teach which is why they come back year after year and recommend all their friends. Attacking someone for their opinion is not doing your schools reputation any good. Glad I could help & give you an alternative En. I wish you the best!
Christine, I do not see that Kinder House was attacking anyone for their opinion. It appears they were merely clarifying that En did not clearly state all the facts in the situation. Frankly I don't see why En posted at all if it isn't her thing as she put it. It does appear that En was attempting to make the school look bad, for whatever reason. I have enrolled my son in Kinder House for the fall and frankly am very impressed with the school and the teachers. I visited several preschools in Alamogordo and found it by far to be the best in my opinion. I did not visit St. John's, as I called and asked if the teachers had NM teaching licenses and was told they did not. I was told that they had the required 45 hours of child care training. I wanted a program who had licensed teachers (teachers who have completed a four year teacher education program and are licensed by the state to teach). In my opinion, you are not doing your schools reputation any good by attacking Kinder House for defending themselves against people who have nothing better to do than sit around and bad mouth others.
BTW Christine, I don't think Kinder House said they are the only true preschool in Alamogordo; I think they said they are one of the only true preschools and not daycare. I think you should reread the post. Also, FYI, they have a perfect balance between learning and fun. In-fact, I think that specific statement is in their philosophy statement on their web-site. Both of the teachers at Kinder House are highly qualified teachers. I think they understand the needs of young children.
All I can say is WoW once again. Must EVERYTHING be an issue on here? En can state her opinion, Lyndsey can state hers, and Christine should be able to state hers. Someone must have went running to tattle to KinderHouse, I think it's funny. They have the right to come and post how they feel as well, Do I believe they were attacked? NO! Just because someone posts an experience SO WHAT! All buisness's go thru this, considering my family owns several we see it ALL the time. If they are as good as you say then this little forum shouldn't make any difference. Why get your panties in a wad??

I never said anything negative about Kinder House. I don't understand why people have to be attacked when their opinion differs from yours or others. I have homeschooled my children & have taught in private christian schools. You don't have to have a license to be qualified to teach children. I disagree with you on that. Some people need to learn that an open public forum is for ALL people to state their opinions NOT attack people. YOU need to reread my post as I was not attacking anyone. I simply gave En another option
Sorry for the double post, Oh and BTW I am soooo glad you found a place your comfortable with Lyndsey, En I hope things work out for ya, Christine I have heard good things about St. Johns from several people..degree or not ya'll must be doing something right, and KinderHouse good luck and If your as good as Lyndsey says this little forum wont hurt ya one bit..
I know you didnt say anything negative Christine..Frankly I do not know why it was a big "Deal" to begin with. I choose at home care for my kids when I went to work, everyone wants certain things for their kids. Some kids need a more structured enviroment, some don't. It just depends on what is right for you & your family..
Oh I have info for all of you, if you can not afford to pay an over-priced amount for pre-school, you can go thru the Early Childhood Education Center at North Elementry and have your child tested..if they have any issues that need addressed they will enroll them at Yucca or North in their Pre-K programs. If there isnt anything they need help with, your child can be put in as a Peer Student. They are licensed teachers thru the State of New Mexico, I have my four year old in this program as a Peer Student at Yucca, and she loves it. They have a curriculam, it is a structured enviroment..we love it!

The topic is Kinder House, isn't it? The owner has already confirmed that they did decline a child who was not ready for their school. All facts. No way am I sending my daughter to a place that MIGHT turn her away because she is not ready. Now she's bent on singing ABCs at the top of her voice whenever she can & refuses to stop. I'm sure she'll disrupt their learning.
It isn't my thing to be "negative". Is it anybody's "thing" for that matter? Still, I was jumped at for making a factual statement. I probably would not have replied if she was not so rude.
Also, Lyndsey registered at this forum less than 2 weeks ago to talk ONLY about Kinder House. Here's another topic.
A great new preschool
Last but not least, when it comes to being rude, I can give out as good as I get. Please let it go & go on with your happy business & life.
It really shouldnt matter if she is a "Military Spouse" My husband was a Green Berat, Does it make any difference? Really..Military kids, just as Non Military kids both need education..Don't let it bother you En..I know you were just stating an opinion, and since this is an opinion forum, well..
Thanks Chanda. It wasn't exactly an opinion but I was just stating what I know. Moreover, it'll be more convenient for them if parents know that their kids need to be prepared for a learning environment to register there.
I only posted what I heard & know. Their child is really a hurricane. Comparable to my little tornado.
She could have been more polite in her reply to clarify instead of being all rude. I don't think it's a bad thing that they turn away children who would distract learning & other kids.
Well as I see it when they end up in Public school there will always be children who are a distraction, if you can teach them to learn around distractions early on, then they will be more pre-pared in Elementry School. I do believe you were just stating how you feel and not in a rude way, we built Condos for years and if I were to get upset at every negative thing said over the years, well lets just say I would have alot more wrinkles than I do have, lol. When you own a buisness you have to have a thick skin.
Maybe that's why there are parents who prefer to home school their children or send them to private schools.
Thick skin, LOL. I dislike businesses who put down others in the same business to advertise, like the cell phone or pizza companies. I find that irritating. Still, I own a cell phone & eat pizza. :)
Well I have friends who have kids in private school, trust me their is still distractions..I feel ya on the negative advertising, thats why I can't stand election time..all you see is negativity on TV, thank goodness for TIVO!! LOL
What are you talking about, Chanda? They are likely one & the same or staff. Look at the formats & contents of both their posts. Or they both love hollomanunderground.com.
I realize I posted things out of anger insted of thought. I do believe in what I said, BUT it could have been said in a nicer way. Apologies to those whom I may have offended.
