Does anyone know why Soaring Heights would have came to our house unannounced today? They just walked in without knocking or ringing the doorbell, about scared my 14 yr old cousin that is staying with us to death, she said our dog freaked out too? Are they allowed to do this?
We called last week about filters and a weed eater but they said they cant drop off the weed eater unless someone 18 or older is home so we said we would just wait and stop by the self help store...We have told them hundreds of times that we have a dog and we don't know to crate her unless they tell us.
They aren't supposed to come into your house without your permission. I would call and ask the supervisor why they are entering your house without knocking or ringing the doorbell. Especially with a young female in your house.......I would be livid if maintenance guys are coming in unannounced!
Oh hell no!! I would be pissed. I would do as Christy said and contact a supervisor. Iv been having problems with soaring heights from the minute we moved into our house. Its gotten to the point that even my neighbors are calling in for me. And to add insult to injury when the maintenance guys do come to my house its with a crappy attitude. Like "lady stop calling us" kind of attitude. 99.99% of the time there wonderful but because iv called them so many times with problems dealing with my air conditioner, they cop an attitude and made me feel so uncomfortable that I just stopped calling. Every day and night we suffer in the heat because they dont want to do something about our air conditioners here in the older houses. Iv never encountered such a horrible company. There customer service is a joke, there houses suck beyond a doubt. I hate soaring heights. And when we get to leave this place I will be all that more happy to have them out of our lives.
I agree Camelia........their customer service is atrocious!!!!! They don't care about us because they are their own company and don't have to answer to anyone! And although they own these houses, we pay a butt-load of rent, and this is where we live, and that needs to be respected! They need to realize that while we are here, this is our house and our stuff and they shouldn't just be allowed to come and go and do whatever they want when they want!
Is anyone having bug issues?? We had fire ants come up through our tub and water bugs/roaches popping up in random places!! MY HOUSE IS SPOTTLESS! I'm germ-a-phobic and a lean mean cleaning machine so my house IS NOT dirty whatsoever! I didn't bother calling it in because when our daughter was a baby we had fire ants coming up from our bedroom closet & a maintenance guy came to our house and I quote said, "I just came out so I could get paid. Call back on Monday and see if the exterminators can come in to check it out in the next week or 2!" 10 fire ant bites can KILL a baby! I was pissed to say the least. Soooo, my husband & I ended up taking care of it and now I'm doing it again! Uhg.
Yes, we are having bug problems Jess......have seen 3 roaches/water bugs in the last two days and have fire ants in our bathrooms..........I don't want Soaring Heights coming out here and spraying crap with my little girls.......so we are just trying to take care of it ourselves too!
A couple of years ago, when we first moved in, they rang my doorbell early in the morning. They came unannounced and when I didn't get to the door to answer, they came right in. I was halfway clothed and was furious. I screamed at them to " Get the F out of MY house!" The only other issue I've had with them are the landscapers deliberately covering my car in dirt, leaves and debris when they mow our rocks(there really isn't any grass) once a week. I do believe when you sign the lease, it says something in there that the maintenance guys are allowed to come in without permission. I think you have to sign to agree. About the bugs, if you ever go walking around this dump at night the streets are swarming with roaches and spiders. There's nothing you can do about it except have pest control come out once a month or so. We've done it since we've lived in base housing(3 years). The spray is safe once it dries which is fairly quick. The fire ants... ugh, don't get me started on those. When my husband deployed the year before last, they were swarming to any kind of water in my house. My son was almost one at the time and stepped right in their path. He had tons of bites all over him. The pest control guys can some spray for those too, just make sure you mention all the bugs you want gone. Needless to say, I'm extremely happy to be leaving Holloman in August :D
They came into my house one morning, right after I had my baby. I came running downstairs like a bat out of hell............come to find out, we had signed that agreement where they can come in, etc. My husband quickly changed that form to say NO they can not enter. Go to housing and make sure you have the DO NOT ENTER section checked, in your file.
I know when we moved on base, in our contract was a paper where we had to mark whether the maintenance guys were allowed to enter our home with us not home or not. We marked to NOT let them in our home without us home! We didn't want random dudes in our house! Who knows what could happen!! I'll try the cinnamon!! Thanks Barbara! I'm afraid to use pesticides with our kids in our home!! I can't wait to leave here either! I'm so glad we got orders! YaY!
Thanks so much for the tip Barbara.......I will definitely have to try that!
And I don't care what the contract with Soaring Heights says.........THEY SHOULD NOT BE ENTERING ANYONE'S HOUSE WITHOUT KNOCKING OR RINGING THE DOORBELL......irregardless of what the contract says.........that is just common sense and manners!
There is a woman who will take your complaints about soaring heights. She reports them to the base commander I think. None the less she is on our side and does NOT work for SH. You really honestly should go talk to her. She works in there office. Iv really had it up to here with them. Im wondering if we could have a town meeting or something and express our concerns as a community. Im going to look into that. If I can help make that happen would any of you be willing to show up?
You know- walking into someone's house unannounced is kinda stupid on their part too- do you know what kind of legality they could face if someone accuses them of something- very stupid to not cover their butts when a lot of us are stay-at-home mothers and are home alone by ourselves during the day.
Camelia- I'm not sure who you are talking about at the Soaring Heights building. I've called and asked to file a complaint before and all the lady cared about was if the job was completed. The job had been completed- but in the process of straightening our shower wall and bringing it back to reglue it.....they busted a piece off of the shower wall.......I called to cover our butt and make sure we wouldn't be charged for their idiot mistake......the lady that I filed a complaint with was sooooooo rude!!! (I was filing a complaint about more than just the busted piece). Also, I find the people at the call center super rude as well (even though I know they aren't here at Holloman). We have had so many problems with Soaring Heights- they make me want to rip my hair out. I have stopped calling them for problems because I don't want to deal with them.
I had to wait for over a week to get my dishwasher fixed. Now it's not that I'm too good to wash my dishes by hand, it's the fact that I'm paying a butt-load for rent and now you can't come fix my dishwasher for a week and a half???? How does that work out? Exactly where is my rent money going? It sure isn't to my landscaping, or my bug problem or my dishwasher that smells like it is on fire everytime I run it! We rented in town for the first year that we were here, and Coldwell Banker sent someone out immediately when we called with a maintenance issue. I have also rented in other cities, and I never had the problems that we have here. Even the maintenance guys in our college dorms did a better job than they do here!
I called on lunch yesterday, then my husband went by and signed some other form, I think we signed it at first but they were just trying to get us to shut up.
When we decided to move on base we were shown one of the old officer houses and they told us that we would get partial BAH back so of course we were going to take it, then someone in the new houses told me they offered him the same thing and the "partial BAH" right now is less than $10! Needless to say we took one of the new houses.
We walk nearly every night but in all my life I have never seen so many spidars and fire ants! I mean, I come from the south and where there is water, there are bugs but the spidars here are NUTS! I have also seen 2 roaches in my house and like yall, our house is clean.
When we first moved into our new house we had a few roaches which right away made me think our neighbors were dirty since they were there a few weeks before us. My mother came to visit and she told me to put Bay leaves in the kitchen area, so I have put them in the drawers and in the cabinets. The only place I find them seldomly is by the fridge. Of course we also have maintenance come once a month to spray our house to be on the safe side.
For Fire Ants or any ants you can put down Cream of wheat. I sprinkled it around our patio outside and a few days later they were gone.
From what I have learned with Soaring Heights, once you become as rude as them they will take their time with everything. So now since we have moved I am really nice when calling to make sure that I am in the right and they are wrong.
Seeing as how this is the desert, you will see more spiders and fire ants. It comes with the climate. Last yr we woke up to a baby scorpion in our house and our dog was running towards it. The housing is what you make of it. Sure it would be a lot nicer if they actually did their job right instead of making us suffer. But they are only working with what their company offers them and what they have available. You do have a choice to live off base and pay rent. Some people CHOOSE to stay in the older housing to save money yet complain because of the issues. Stop complaining already and spray your house yourself. Keep track of everything, save your receipts. That's what we do.
I have a question. . . why should some of us who live in the older homes be treated any differently? We pay just as much rent as the folks in the new houses. And to say "oh curb your attitude and they will be more cooperative" is a lie. Iv tried that. When I call up to that office Im very polite and use my please and thank yous. They are the ones who act like asses. I will go in up there to the SH office and get that ladies info. She works in there office but not for them. She works for the air force. Iv placed my complaints threw her before and has told me, every time SH does something bad come talk to her. No one answered my question about a town meeting so I take it no one wants to do it right? One last thing. AFWife123 you know sometimes people come on here to blow off steam. To be herd. To get things off there chest. You dont need to get all defensive. We are all grown here. We know if it came down to it then yeah we will go buy the spray and do it our selves. But I think I speak for those who are tired of there bull. No im not going to go BUY something that was promised to me for living here. I refuse and I mean refuse to put in any more money into this company . There biting the hand that feeds them. And they dont deserve a dime.
We have busted our butts at our house since we've been here.......when we moved in, our backyard was rocks and dirt.....we rented a rotatiller, bought seed, bought all our own watering equipment, bought fencing to fence off sections of our yard, the list goes on and on.......just to grow some grass for our kids to play in. I bought rose bushes and planted them in my front flowerbed, only to have Soaring Heights come along and weed-eat them down to stubs.........it is not a matter of me not being able to go and buy bug spray....it's a matter of paying a crap-ton of money for rent and not having anything to show for it.....the least they could do is be courteous on the phone and do their job......is that asking too much???? I'm not asking them to come pick up my dog poop or feed my children...I just want them to do what they get paid for!
And Camelia- I think if you started a petition for a town meeting or scheduled a town meeting, I bet people would come. I'm just worried that things might be taken out on us or our husbands.......in the past, if we've complained about Soaring Heights, it just made things worse and we were treated even worse the next time!
Camelia: This wasn't meant towards you or anyone in particular. We buy things for the upkeep of our house. I just think some people do take things for granted because they live in housing and expect for them to be on top of their game. They 9 times out of 10 will never be on top of their game. They took over these "crappy" homes and expected to make a better living space for military members and their families. Most of the time all they have done is cause matters to be worse off.
All the new homes are cheaply made. But we can't exactly get mad at the Soaring Heights workers for their incompetence, they were probably never trained on how to handle situations. They are only using the resources they have readily available to them.
If you go to your first shirt or husbands first shirt and explain the situation to them, all it takes is a phone call to make things happen. I know plenty of people who just sit and argue back and forth with SH instead of going directly to the shirt to take care of it.
For me, it is not that they can't handle the situation it is that they are rude and immature, or I go to the office and there are 3 women chit chatting about getting drunk the weekend before instead of helping the 20 people in line. And the receptionist is nothing but rude to me and has been since day one. I am never rude or ugly back but she always seems to snap at me.
We own a house in Bama and pay less than 600 a month. For our rent to be 915 and not get anything from it makes me mad too, Christy. And I have been in your house and met you and your hubby and know how nice you keep it, you shouldn't have to pay anything reguarding the house.
I know it wasn't towards me AFWife. I agree with you said just now. And you right and you have very good advice. Thank you. I also understand how christy feels. I have suggested to them time and time again to bring back or install a self help store. They can control it and have all the say over it just make it available to those of us who want to use it for our homes. I would be more prone to doing more with my yard ect. . if they would provide me with the tools. I dont want to buys stuff for a house that isn't mine. Not only that but almost all of us are paying over 800 bucks a month. How much more do I have to fork over? What ever happened to scratch my back and I will scratch yours? Or keeping your customers happy? They can do so much more for us and they consciously chose not to. It doesn't even have to cost them a dime. I called up to the office because there maintenance line was acting funny. (I would play music for about 15 sec then you would hear nothing.) I talked to ____ (No names), the least she could have done is say is im sorry to hear the line is down let me see if I can place the order in for you or is there something I can help you with. Thats alls she had to do. NOOOOOOO I got a very rude "well keep trying or I dont know just don't worry about it". So I tried again to call the maintenance line and again got the same thing. Waited 15 minutes in complete silence and finally just hung up because I didn't know if they knew I was waiting or was I wasting my time or what. How is this ok? How am I suppose to bring change to this situation?
Bonnie: From my experience working with Coorperate companies and seeing how things are, some people choose to be rude and act like that due to the fact that they can't handle their job. I am sorry that you have to go thru that everytime you need something, unfortunately I get the same thing and I will them with kindness so they can't say I was rude or did something wrong.
Camelia: I agree with you, having the self-help store would be so much nicer. Instead we can rent tools from outdoor rec. or request the few items that we can from maintenance. I rarely make calls to maintenance. I usually fill it out online or go down to their office to see what they have available. And if you plan on putting together a petition, document everything. Every cell phone company has phone bills that show the time the call was made and how long. If you plan on making a formal complaint make sure you have evidence to back up your story.
