That's next Tuesday. And if this is the same one as in Ruidoso their Blackberry Cobbler is rated high, even by those that don't particularly like their BBQ.

My B/F went to CSS today after work with some co-workers (around 2:30) and he said it was comfortable inside so they must have fixed the air. He got the pork rib combo that comes with two sides (he got mac&cheese and baked beans) and a drink for $12.49 (and had leftovers to bring home) and for us at home he brought a pound of pulled pork, potato salad, and cole slaw. It was all delishes and the only small complaint I would have is that the cole slaw was not seasoned enough and was rather bland (although fresh), but I "doctored" it with a bit of salt and pepper and mayo. And the only complaint my b/f had was that they don't have a soda fountain but bottle drinks in the restaurant.

And for those of you who love the Mountaintop Merchantile pies in Cloudcroft you'll be happy to know that CSS has ones that are just as or more beautiful and tasty as those. They have Mountain Harvest, Cherry, Apple, Peach, and Pecan. We got an apple and it is packed with real apple slices and has that lovely high crust with the course sugar sprinkles on it. mmmmmm mmmm mmmm

So a big thumbs up for our new food establishment. 

Too bad they don't have French Silk pies! I guess I'll have to continue to order them from the Merc. 

Went to Can't stop smokin today. Got a chopped brisket sandwich and a sausage link (about 1' long). Cost $9 something. Price not so much a factor since it seems fast food places are approaching these prices. Food was good. Meat was tender. Looked kinda busy but they seem to have alot of help and it wasn't a problem getting in and out. Friendly, professional service. Have to see how long that keeps up. Friend had the sliced brisket. You could see the smoke ring. I liked it. I will go back. 

We purchased food from there for the second time yesterday and it was still good. I think I have found that the best deal is to get the pound of pulled pork and make your own sandwiches. I think just a sandwich is $5.99 and a pound of meat is $7.99 and we were able to make 6 sandwiches on the regular hamburger buns so you could probably make 3 monster size with the same meat. And I just made my own cole slaw (I like it better anyway) and baked beans to go with. My b/f also got the half chicken ($4.99) and said the flavor goes all the way through and it was fall-off-the-bone tender and juicy. He picked these up at the drive-through and said even though you order at the window (no speakers) it went fairly quickly.

Update..Had sausage again...I suspect of putting me on the toilet for a couple days. I had some with brisket samwhich, and then the next day saved for lunch. I had ate the second round and the intestinal upset began right after. It was too late, since I had just had some. It prolonged it another day. I gave friend a bite on previous occassion and he said it seemed undercooked. Still like the brisket, but I am not feeling trusting at the moment. 

Can't Stop Smokin' will have it's Grand Opening Tuesday August 17. BBQ and Blues. 

The BBQ and Blues starts at 5:00pm 

Barb - Do you know if they're doing anything in particular like running any kind of specials that evening? 

I'm sorry I don't know. I just noticed the sign out front that advertised the grand opening. 

we went to that cant stop smokin bbq and we was not happy at all. they dont even give a normal plate just a to go container. my meal was 16 bucks and that was the smallest portion ever had, bbq sauce has no flavor. we did not like it all.. sincerely richie
