Can anyone tell me if Otero county has any cheerleading programs for pee wee aged girls? I know they have football for boys starting at 7. My daughter went to the day camp that the high school had a few weeks ago but she wants to do it all the time. I looked on the internet and couldn't find anything so I was wondering if it even existed out here. Any info would be appreciated. 

I have looked as well for my daughter, but I have not found any information. I have been told that they dont offer it! So im not sure! Maybe if we have enough little girls we can start it up ourselves. Im not sure how much work it would be, but my daughter really loves it as well.

I just moved here & I have been looking for orginizations. I would love to coach cheerleading- I have cheered for many years. It would be awesome to get a squad together on base (have a little league for the flag football teams etc.) Like I said I just moved here so I am not sure where to even begin or who to talk too. 

Im not sure where you could start either. All I know is my 5 year old daughter would love to participate. 

Las Cruces is really too far for us to drive just for cheerleading practice, thats why I was looking for something more local. I spoke with some other moms, and a volleyball coach. There is definitely some interest in cheerleading so I'm going to talk to the sports coordinator here on base and see if we can get something going. I would need some volunteers to help with the squad if I make it that far. Mlk2503 thank you for your interest. If you can, please personal message me your information so I can give it to the director. I'm sure if he knows that we have volunteers ahead of time it would make it easier. 

my daughter would give up everything in her room if that meant she could be a cheerleader at 5 yrs old! If you find a way to make a squad for lil ones happen, Mlk2503, please make sure you post it up asap so these little girls could full fill their childhood dreams :) 

Danielle, could you also please post something about the squad if you do get it up and running? my daughter attends school here on base and that would be just perfect for us :)

Okay ladies, here's an update. I spoke with the Principle of Holloman Primary this morning. She informed me that a "cheerleading" squad can only be for 7th and 8th grade kids, and even to do that I would have to get a coaching license or find a licensed coach. So what we are working on is a "Pep" squad instead so the younger children can be a part of it. I have a meeting with Mrs. Showalter @ 0930 Thursday morning to discuss the finer details. The only hurdle left to jump now is finding a teacher sponsor. There may be one thats interested so lets keep our fingers crossed.

Okay so todady was supposed to be my meeting with the principal of Holloman Elemntary but something suddenly came up with her. I will keep you all updated when we get another meeting rescheduled.
