Aside from Alamogordo, where's the next nearest High School & can you go if you live out of the area? 

I think the closest is in Tularosa, but I would not recommend it. I have heard alot of bad things about it, but i could have heard wrong. Also the School in Cloudcroft which I have heard is really great, but its a little farther and when it snows its hard to get to school. I hope that helps.

Yes, they go all the way to 12th grade. Just wanted to give you another option. Do you have a child at AHS now or are you anticipating a bad experience there? 

I have 3 children there and have had nothing but problems. Spoke to New Superintendent & he is like the rest-big on words-no action. 

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. I haven't heard anything, negative or positive about Tularosa but if I had to put my son into a different school, it would be Cloudcroft. 

Most parents don't know what is going on-but it is bad. My daughter had a class where no teacher showed. 35 students left in a room unattended for 45 minutes. She was on a bus with swim team & I get a call from school saying she was absent. Hubby was at school today & overheard boy saying that every time he went to track meet he was marked absence & was sent to truancy office-the list goes on & on. 

I asked my son if he ever had a class where no teacher ever showed and he said he hadn't but I don't doubt there are many problems there. The day of the snowfall when school got out early, my son was signed absent for his last class. I went to the office and got it straightened out.
I was hoping that the state would come in and straighten it out but I'm afraid Alamo is low on their priority list. 

We sat at a table at Golden Scholars last night & one of the girls there said she had classes without teachers too. So, definitely a growing concern.
