Welcome to a piece of heaven :) We finally arrived in Chiang Mai on Wednesday after 6 more hours of bus ride. We already had a trek planned for the next day so didnât do much⦠had time to go to the night bazaar which is great. If youâre a shopaholic, keep clear! Bracelets, lights, vases, bags, clothes everywhere around you. Weâll definitely go back to buy some stuff, but itâs sooo frustrating we have to be careful we donât overload ourselves⦠So we left for the trek on Thursday morning with 8 other people and 2 guides, a nice bumpy ride on a jeep across the lovely scenes of Chiang Maiâs mountains and rice fields .. IMG_1686.JPG First activity was the elephant ride. That was amazing, theyâre so cute! Well, they feel like door mats but itâs so impressive to be on something that huge. Plus you get a good view from up there! We fed them bananas it was weird to have those trunks snif at you!!
IMG_1751.JPG Then we walked through the jungle, stopped at a nice waterfall to cool down and headed to a small tribe in the mountains. There were 2 children, one about nine, the other maybe 2. We gave them balloons and showed them how to make noises! The look on their faces⦠priceless!! They were laughing their heads off itâs was so moving!! DSC_0706.JPG The condition of children in Thailand is quite sad⦠some, like those two, donât get to go to school, others live on the streets (we saw a kid in Bangkok carrying his cardboard box to sleep somewhere), or are sent to sell flowers till about 2 in the morning⦠the first night we were in Chiang Mai, this girl, about 5, came up to us just showing us her flower necklaces, almost tears in her eyes, she could hardly speak⦠And you canât do anything to help them, if you give money, it doesnât change anythingâ¦louboutin saappaat[/url]> We didnât have our crayons or balloons with us at the time, it was frustrating.. DSC_0752.JPG Back to the trek: we slept in bamboo huts, had a campfire, showered in the freezing river, it was great! And the group was really nice! The next day was mostly hiking from waterfall to waterfall. Thatâs the life!! Another night in a bamboo hut, we helped to cook our thai dinner, which is cool âcause now we know how to make a curry dish! DSC_0768.JPG DSC_0807.JPG
DSC_0739.JPG Oh, and the guys found the most enormous (dead) spider!!! OMG!!! Even I held it⦠for those who know me, this is HUGE!!! Anyway, the last day we went bamboo rafting on a little river, it was cool. We came across little villages by the river, with all the thais eating, drinking, bathing⦠there again, 8 year olds had their bottle of Chang beer, a girl about 11 was carrying about 5 empty cans of beer⦠arf they smoke and drink real young hereâ¦
